Der Winter in den Schweizer Alpen ist sehr kalt. Hoch oben auf dem Berg liegt ein kleines Dorf. Es heißt Eichenberg. Es gibt viel Schnee. Plötzlich bricht ein großer Berg aus Schnee ab. Das nennt man Lawine. Die Strasse ist weg. Niemand kann das Dorf verlassen. Niemand kann helfen. Alle Menschen bleiben in ihren warmen Häusern.
Markus ist Schreiner und Jäger. Er sitzt am Abend in seinem Wohnzimmer. Er trinkt warmen Tee. Der Wind ist sehr laut. Plötzlich hört er ein Geräusch an der Tür. Es ist kein normaler Wind. Jemand kratzt und klopft an die Holztür.
Markus steht auf. Er nimmt eine Taschenlampe und geht in den Flur. Er macht die Tür ein bisschen auf und leuchtet nach draussen.
Im Schnee steht ein Tier. Es sieht aus wie ein Hase, aber es ist sehr gross und gruselig. Es hat Hörner auf dem Kopf. Die Augen sind weiss und blau. Aus dem Mund läuft schwarzer Speichel. Es ist ein Zombie-Tier!
Das Tier springt schnell in das Haus. Markus erschrickt und fällt auf den Boden. Das Monster zeigt seine scharfen Zähne. Markus rollt zur Seite. Er nimmt ein grosses Holzstück vom Ofen. Das Tier springt auf ihn. Markus schlägt mit dem Holz zu. Das Monster trifft die Wand. Dann rennt es schnell aus dem Fenster in die dunkle Nacht.
Markus atmet tief ein. Sein Herz klopft schnell. Er schliesst die Tür und stellt einen schweren Schrank davor. Die Strasse ist weg, aber jetzt ist auch das Monster da. In den anderen Häusern brennen Lichter. Die Nachbarn haben den Lärm gehört. Markus nimmt sein Gewehr und weiss: Diese Nacht wird lang und schwer.

The Night in the Snow
The winter in the Swiss Alps is very cold. High up on the mountain lies a small village. It is called Eichenberg. There is a lot of snow. Suddenly a large mountain of snow breaks off. That is called an avalanche. The road is gone. No one can leave the village. No one can help. All people stay in their warm houses.
Markus is a carpenter and hunter. He sits in his living room in the evening. He drinks warm tea. The wind is very loud. Suddenly he hears a noise at the door. It is not normal wind. Someone is scratching and knocking on the wooden door.
Markus stands up. He takes a flashlight and goes into the hallway. He opens the door a little bit and shines the light outside.
An animal stands in the snow. It looks like a rabbit, but it is very big and scary. It has horns on its head. The eyes are white and blue. Black saliva is running from its mouth. It is a zombie animal!
The beast jumps quickly into the house. Markus gets startled and falls to the floor. The monster shows its sharp teeth. Markus rolls to the side. He takes a large piece of wood from the stove. The animal jumps at him. Markus hits it with the wood. The monster hits the wall. Then it runs quickly out the window into the dark night.
Markus breathes in deeply. His heart beats fast. He closes the door and puts a heavy wardrobe in front of it. The road is gone, but now the monster is here too. Lights are burning in the other houses. The neighbors heard the noise. Markus takes his rifle and knows: This night will be long and hard.
