Es ist sehr kalt in Alaska. Der Winter ist da. Lukas ist Jäger. Er ist allein im grossen Wald. Plötzlich kommt ein grosser Sturm. Lukas verliert seinen Weg.
Alles ist still.
Aber dann hört Lukas ein Geräusch. Es ist ein lautes Heulen. Ein Wolf!
Lukas bleibt stehen.
Verschwindet!“
Die Wölfe stoppen. Sie schauen ihn an. the alpha male shows his teeth and growls.

English Translation
The Wolves in the Snow
It is very cold in Alaska. Winter is here. Lukas is a hunter. He is alone in the big forest. Suddenly a big storm comes. Lukas loses his way. He has to go back down to the valley quickly.
He walks through the deep snow. His snowshoes make a quiet sound: crunch, crunch. Everything is silent.
But then Lukas hears a sound. It is a loud howling. A wolf!
Lukas stops. His heart beats fast. He shines his flashlight into the dark forest. There he sees many eyes. They glow yellow and green in the light. It is an entire wolf pack. At least five wolves walk quietly in the snow. They come closer.
Lukas knows: He must not run away. He makes himself big and shouts loudly: “Get out of here! Beat it!”
The wolves stop. They look at him. the alpha male shows his teeth and growls. They circle him.
One of the young wolves jumps forward. It snaps at Lukas’s backpack. That is too much. Lukas takes his rifle and shoots into the snow in front of the wolves. Bang! The report is very loud.
The wolves get startled. They stop briefly. That is enough! Behind Lukas is a steep hill. He throws himself into the snow and slides down behind the trees. The wolves howl angrily and run after him.
Down by the river stands an old wooden cabin. Lukas runs quickly to the door. He opens the door, jumps inside, and slams it shut. Immediately he slides the heavy bolt into place.
Outside, heavy bodies slam against the wood. The wolves scratch at the door. Lukas leans against the wall and breathes in deeply. He is safe.
